Bible Verses as golden Keys

These pages want and wanted to give an illustrative overview on God’s work of Salvation in the topics of the Book of Revelation along with their relation to us, so that it may become a joy to read and study the Book of Revelation. God is with us. He does not leave us unprotected in all these conflicts on earth and in our lives. Therefore He sent us this special Revelation-Letter to strengthen and to guide us until Jesus’ return. No distance keeps Him from testifying of his goodness towards us. For this Jesus gave us the evidence while He lived on earth by leading us to the right perception of God’s character. And it is Jesus who delivered also the book of Revelation to us, since “it is the Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show us the things which are going to happen.” (i. Rev 1,1) God gave us his Bible as a sure light and as a testimony of his covenant with us and his care for us. He wants to reveal himself in order to draw us to himself.

And since the Bible explains the symbols and pictures in the Book of Revelation the following Bible Verses are like little keys to certain details and words in this last Book of the Bible.

In this list are first the headlines with a short summarized description of each topic, next there are the Revelation verses, and after that follow the Bible verses which present the Biblical background for the Revelation text to explain or confirm it as keys. The topics are the following and can be clicked to find more quickly the desired topics:

2, God’s ’Wrath’ - He gives up, and the Consequences

God knows, when a man is dead, he does not exist and is completely extinguished.
And when God has tried everything He can to reach and save a man,
He knows when that man has made a final decision and is no longer open for the Spirit’s influence.
So God has to give up and let go and let die ... and He cries.

Hosea 11:4,7-9 (Nkjv): “I drew them with gentle cords, with bands of love. 7 My people are bent on backsliding from Me. 8 How can I give you up? How can I hand you over? My heart churns within Me; my sympathy is stirred. 9 I will not execute the fierceness of my anger.”

3, Healing and being changed

Our heart is sick because of our sins, but by beholding God and being open to his influence He can heal and transform us into his image of a loving character.

4, God’s Love, and the Love in our Lives, Hearts and Words

God’s Love is unconditional; He is the loving Father of us all,
but Satan did the greatest sin, when he lied about God’s character of love.
By knowing God’s love, we will love too, and we will stop to gossip and to lie, our words will be pure.

1 John 4:16.19: We have come to know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love. 19 We love, because He first loved us.

5, God’s special blessed Day

God wanted to bless us by a special covenant day, which reminds us of his love and his bond with us. Jesus became one of us and the visible bond, so He is the perfect Lord of this special day.

Revelation 1:10: I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and I heard behind me a loud voice.

Revelation 12:17: The rest, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

Luke 6:5: And <Jesus> was saying to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath."

Isaiah 58:13-14: “If because of the sabbath, you turn your foot from doing your own pleasure on my holy day, and call the sabbath a delight, the holy day of the Lord honorable, and honor it, desisting from your own ways 14 then you will take delight in the Lord; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

6, Trust and Perseverance

Throughout the Book of Revelation and throughout the Bible God wants to encourage us
to trust Him and to persevere what ever may happen. He wants to help us to believe.

Revelation 14:12: Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.

Revelation 2:19,3: “I know your deeds, and your love and faith and service and perseverance, 3 and you have perseverance and have endured for my name's sake, and have not grown weary.”

John 14:1-3,9 (Net): “Do not let your hearts be distressed. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 There are many dwelling places in my Father's house. Otherwise, I would have told you, because I am going away to make ready a place for you. 3 And if I go and make ready a place for you, I will come again and take you to be with me, so that where I am you may be too. 9 The person who has seen me has seen the Father!”

Hebrews 12:1-3: Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith. 3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Daniel 3:17-18: (Therefore also three believers said to a ruler,) If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand. 18 But even if He does not, let it be known to you, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the image that you have set up. Romans 5:3-5: We <are> knowing that tribulation brings about perseverance, 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope; 5 and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Hebrews 10:35-37: Therefore, do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. 36 For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. 37 For yet in a very little while, He who is coming will come, and will not delay.

7, The Seal of God in our Hearts

In the Bible the Seal of God is the Holy Spirit and his testimony of God’s Character,
so that we become so settled in this knowledge of the truth about God and his love,
that nothing and no one can move us, and that we become like Him in our character.

Revelation 7:2-3: I saw another angel ascending from the rising of the sun, having the seal of the living God. 3 Do not harm the earth until we have sealed the bond-servants of our God on their foreheads.

2 Timothy 2:19: The firm foundation of God stands, having this seal, ‘The Lord knows those who are His,’ and, ‘Everyone who names the name of the Lord is to abstain from wickedness.’

John 10:14-15,27: “I am the good shepherd, and I know my own and my own know Me, 15 and I lay down my life for the sheep. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

2 Corinthians 1:21-22: He who establishes us in Christ and anointed us is God, 22 who also sealed us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge.

Colossians 2:6-10: As you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 having been firmly rooted and being built up in Him and established in your faith. 8 See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, rather than according to Christ. 9 For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form; 10 and in Him you have been made complete.

8, The Endtime, the End of the World and the New Earth

God shows us in the Bible and especially in the Book of Revelation,
that his faithful und righteous character will be revealed to all the world, and He reveals what will come:
the events at the Endtime we live in, the end of the world, and the glorious heritage of the new earth.

Revelation 12:9-11,17: The great dragon, the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world was thrown down to the earth. 10 The accuser of our brethren has been thrown down. 11 And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, and they did not love their life even when faced with death. 17 So the dragon was enraged, and went off to make war with the rest, who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus.

Revelation 14:3-4: They sang a new song before the throne. 4 These are the ones who follow the Lamb wherever He goes. These were redeemed from among men.

Revelation 16:15: “Behold, I am coming. Blessed is the one who stays awake.”

Matthew 24:4-5,24: “See to it that no one misleads you. 5 For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will mislead many. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even the elect.”

Galatians 1:8: But even if an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to what we have preached to you, he is to be accursed!

Matthew 24:6,14: “You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 14 This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.”

Isaiah 48:17-18.20: “Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One, I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go. 18 If only you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea. 20 Go forth from Babylon! Flee! Declare with the sound of joyful shouting, proclaim this, send it out to the end of the earth; say, The Lord has redeemed!”

Psalm 33:3-4,11,20-21: Sing to Him a new song. 4 For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. 11 The counsel of the Lord stands forever, the plans of his heart from generation to generation. 20 Our soul waits for the Lord; He is our help and our shield. 21 For our heart rejoices in Him, Because we trust in his holy name.

Revelation 21:1,3-4; 22:3-7,20-21: Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away. 3 And <God> will dwell among them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be among them, 4 and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death. 22,3 And his bond-servants will serve Him, 4 they will see his face 5 and they will reign forever and ever.
6 And He said to me, “These words are faithful and true. 7 And behold, I am coming quickly. Blessed is he who heeds the words of the prophecy of this book. 20 He who testifies to these things says, Yes, I am coming quickly."
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all.
